La Ballata di Orfeo e dell’Amor Perduto

2018

The 4 tears of Man (the manifestation of the soul), when “played” with the right Mastery, conceal the ritualism of the mysterious traditions of the Orphic and Western esoteric cult. The position of the hands in a “lock” recalls the maxim attributed to the mythical philosopher Hermes Trismegistus: “That which is below is like that which is above, and that which is above is like that which is below, to accomplish the wonders of the One Thing.” The wind instruments (alluding to “breath-sound,” the Word, and Carmina) that arise from the subject’s head (red = “active-executive”) represent the 4 elements (earthly manifestation of the elements) guiding the “time” (musical ritual) of mysterious initiations, symbolized by the color purple. The souls of the deceased, each one cut out from the pages of their own Life (books), are drawn towards the “Light” emanating from the Music (gramophone) of golden color (purity and realization). The Orphic Egg of genesis, along with the golden spiral (shell), refers to the active-operative realization (Doric column) on which they rest, grounded on the “Book of Nature,” incomprehensible to “profane” eyes (book without a cover).

The figure sits on a blue-colored sphere, a Renaissance reference to the Sky-Universe, on which the golden musical instrument rests. According to ancient traditions (and not only...), the Universe is Music. Musical notes are like Words. And with the Word (word-sound), the Universe (the Macro Universe) and the Micro Universe (Man) were created.
