La Sfinge

2021

The Sphinx, an enigmatic mystical figure, is a combination of multiple symbolic creatures alluding to various phases of the Great Work. The figures cut out from the books, kneeling and bent, serve as a warning for humanity that approaching too closely to the Creature, to the Great Work, may risk destruction from her. The columns on the sides are hermetic references to the Temple, the sacred place where the work is performed, utilizing the two columns (aspects of Strength and Stability, Rigor and Mercy of the Sephirot) necessary for the undertaking. The Sphinx carries on its forehead the Golden Peacock with its tail open, it is the Key to understanding Operational Realization.
