Triumphus Unicornus

The Unicorn is an ambiguous symbol of feminine purity and virginity, particularly in relation to the Virgin Mary. Its horn, called Alicorn, holds medicinal and magical properties. The reins recall Temperance, one of the Seven Virtues. Finally, the triumph recalls the civil and religious ceremony in ancient Rome held to celebrate and sanctify the success of a military commander leading his forces to victory or successfully completing a foreign war. That’s why there is a castle in the middle.
